Some things cannot go on the truck
Paint, fuel, propane, chemicals, asbestos and medical waste are regulated materials that need a household hazardous waste program or a licensed specialist.
Why Junk Koala
A national company that shows up like a local one
Booking that takes minutes
Describe the job, add photos if it helps, and pick a time. No phone tag, no waiting for someone to call back before you know what happens next.
Fair pricing, upfront
The crew confirms what is being removed and what it costs before anything goes on the truck. If the job turns out to be different from what you described, you find out then — not on the invoice.
Local crews, national standards
The people who show up are a local crew who know the market, the facilities and the routes. The booking, scheduling and support behind them run on one national system.
Residential and commercial, equally
The same operation handles a single mattress and a multi-floor office cleanout. Commercial work gets scheduling around business hours, quotes that survive an approval process, and invoicing that fits accounts payable.
Same-day and next-day service
Most jobs do not need to wait. Same-day and next-day slots are available, the crew arrives inside the window you picked, and if anything moves you hear it from us before it happens rather than after.
Eco-friendly disposal
Loads are sorted so donatable goods, metal, electronics and green waste go where they should. Refrigerant appliances go to certified recovery. Hazardous materials get flagged and left, not quietly loaded.
Pricing
Priced by the space it takes, not by the hour
Single Item
One item, curbside or inside
One piece that needs two people and a truck. Priced as a single item rather than as a share of a full load.
from $99
Minimum Load
Roughly an eighth of the truck
The smallest multi-item job. A handful of pieces from one room, or a small pile from a garage.
from $149
- Most common
Half Truck
Half the truck
The most common cleanout size. Multiple rooms, or one thoroughly full garage or basement.
from $379
Full Truck
The full truck
A whole property's worth of material, or a large commercial clear-out in one visit.
from $549
- Fair pricing, confirmed upfront
- Labor and disposal included

Responsible Disposal
Sorted, not just hauled
Donation
Furniture, household goods, clothing, books and usable office furniture are offered to local donation partners. Receiving standards are genuinely strict — particularly for upholstery — so this is assessed item by item rather than assumed.
Metal recycling
Appliances, shelving, racking, bed frames, scrap and fencing are predominantly steel. Metal recyclers take these readily, which is why appliances rarely need to reach a landfill at all.
Electronics recycling
Televisions, computers, monitors and networking equipment are routed to e-waste processors. Many states prohibit these from landfill outright, and the recoverable materials inside them are worth the separate handling.
Green waste and composting
Clean brush, branches, leaves, grass and sod go to composting and mulching facilities where the local market has one. A load has to stay clean to qualify — a few plastic pots can disqualify the whole thing.
FAQ
Questions people actually ask
What actually happens on the day?
The crew arrives in the appointment window, walks the job with you, and confirms exactly which items are going and what it costs. Once you approve that, they do the removal — carrying items out from wherever they are, loading the truck, and sweeping the space. Then the load goes to donation, recycling or disposal depending on what is in it.
Do I need to move anything to the curb first?
No. The crew removes items from wherever they sit — upstairs bedrooms, basements, attics, back yards, storage units. Moving things outside yourself is optional and does not change the price.
How is the price calculated?
Most jobs are priced by volume — how much space the load takes up in the truck. Heavy materials such as concrete, tile, soil and roofing debris are priced by weight instead, because they reach a truck's legal weight limit long before they fill it. Access and labor affect the number too: a fourth-floor walk-up is more work than a garage.
What can you not take?
Household hazardous waste and regulated materials: paint, solvents, chemicals, fuel, oil, propane and compressed gas cylinders, asbestos and lead materials, biological and medical waste, ammunition, fireworks and radioactive material. These are legal restrictions on transport and disposal rather than company preferences.
Can I get same-day or next-day service?
Yes — same-day and next-day service is available, and it is one of the most common ways people book. Whether a same-day slot is open on any given day comes down to how much capacity your local crew has left, so booking earlier in the day gives you the best chance of one.
Where does everything go?
Loads are sorted where local facilities allow it. Usable furniture and household goods go to donation partners, metal to scrap processors, electronics to e-waste recycling, clean green waste to composting, and refrigerant appliances to certified recovery. What remains goes to a transfer station or landfill.
